So much fun

I have had so much fun this evening! I was feeling pretty blue as my husband has gone out and I had forgotten about that until he reminded me earlier so I was facing sorting 4 kids out on my ownsome and then spending the evening on my lonesome :( Once I got all the kids to bed I went to search out if there was anything I could possibly use for a circle journal as my shopping trip today was completely unsuccessful.
I found a photo album that I had forgotten about and is usable but each page was seperated by a thick sheet of mulberry paper. As I was ripping all the mulberry paper out I got to thinking of the UKS Weekly challenge and how I could use this much thicker than normal paper with paints and scrunching and inks and oooh the imagination went wild!
I decided to play with paint, I have a huge set of beautiful Twinkling H2O's which I have only ever used for colouring stamps and I painted one sheet in various greens and blues with a little lavender and then painted 3 circles on another in sheet in 2 greens and a bright pink. I then panted a frame on a white piece of card and highlighted it with a black gel pen wrote journalling straight onto the card with the gel pen added my title in Promarker and outlined with the pen. I just then added the photo's a bit of punched card and some bling to make the layout below.
The colours are amazing and glimmer and twinkle with the mica from the paints and I don't think the photo does them justice at all.
The challenge this week was;
1/. Use blue
2/. Use Journalling
3/. Use a summer themed photograph
4/. Use handmade embellishments or memorabilia related to the photo(s)

I hope you like it it is my first foray into splattering things with paint but it won't be my last I am planning on making lots of my own paper with these pieces of mulberry :)

UKS weekly challenge

So the weekly challenge this week was set by Jo and was a really great one :) The criteria were;
Use 2 photos
Use bunting
Use a stamped image
Use scraps no new PP

I decided to use these photo's of DS#2 Dylan at Legoland winning his race in the "Lego" cars. I used a couple of floral stamps with different portions coloured using my Marvy Le Plume pens to make a little PP of my own the idea of it was that it was fireworks being set off to celebrate his win. I made the bunting using a cut off section of PP from the superhero father's day card I made last year for DH and I used another scrap piece of paper about Boys love the quote "Boy noun a noise with dirt on it" rofl The letters and stars were all cut when I first got my Cuttlebug and Cricut 3 years ago and I was playing with them and they have been sat in a folder ever since lol. I made a checquered flag using a black and white paper scrap and a paperclip. The stars paper was the only one that wasn't a scrap but it was only a 6 by 6 piece and I wanted something to mat the other picture and none of my scraps were big enough.

TFL :)

No sunday crafting this week

I went to Olympia this Sunday so no crafting but plenty of stash shopping :)
We go every year but last year as DH was out in Afghanistan and I had no-one to babysit my four monkeys I missed it :( I always go with my Mum, Dawn (my mum's bff and my mummy 2) and most years my Aunt Hilary. This year we also met up with my fantabulous friend Rhianydd which was great.
I got a Punch around the page set to play with (totally Lisa aka 3peaches from UKS's fault lol) and some great papers and discs from Michelle at http://mjm-thearttart.blogspot.com/ which are awesome I highly recommend having a peek at her blog and website. I also got some amazing ribbon bargains as it was the last day of the show they were all under £1 most were only 10p :D. I got a few other bits and bobs but behaved and didn't spend too much so I am planning on visiting www.gottacraft.co.uk and splurging on the March kit if there are any left next week.
I am busy with a secret project that I cannot show you on here as the recipient may see it this week but will squeeze the UKS weekly challenge in too.

UKS weekly challenge

I took full advantage of Alex's nap to complete the weekly challenge for the UKS forum :) I made the flowers myself it has been good to learn how to make my own flowers now I can be sure they co-ordinate :) I am sure I will still be using all my fabric ones though lol.
The challenge this week was very me it was;
a/. to use only 1 or 2 photos, I rarely scrap more then 2 photos nowadays
b/. to have "white" space, I often have plenty of space
c/. to use bling, well I don't remember a recent LO without a bit of bling somewhere (except maybe the one of Phil on saturday)

Anyhow here it is me and Alex when he was around 3 months :)

My first ever crop

Last night I went out to my first ever crop. I didn't know quite what to expect so I took a bag full of bits and bobs and a kit I got with Alex's 12x12 album. It was mainly a group of cardmakers being taught a new technique by a lady named Bridgit but there were two other ladies besides me scrapping so I had a nice chat and will go back again next time although they have insisted I have to take my albums! I did say there are 6 of them so it will be heavy lol.
It was interesting to try and scrap with very limited stash, although I had this kits it was all heavily patterned paper no card and no plain colours apart from photo mats. I had got my bling and blooms though and a few ribbons and brads so I quite like what I managed to produce :)

Sunday crafting week 4

Today is Phil and my twelfth wedding anniversary, to celebrate I wanted to do a page on each of us and I also had the house challenge in UKS to do which I had already planned out.

First up my page; Looking back over the past 12 years it is amazing how my life has changed and so I did a now and then type page using Basic Grey papers, various flowers, pearl brads, felt fusion and Basic Grey lettering'

I am very proud to be an army wife and am extremely proud of my brave hubby. The first picture here shows him on one of the practises for the Trooping the Colour. They actually do the full troop twice before everyone see's it on TV. Phil (being the tallest) is always in the back row at the end so you can see him very well lol. The second photo was while he was on peacekeeping duties in Kosovo.

and finally the UKS House Challenge. This month the challenge was to follow a sketch and using a monochrome palate. I used a pale blue palate which doesn't seem to have come out too well in the photo the colours are a little more vibrant irl.

Back to scrapping kids :)

But not mine lol I have got to the LO's in the wedding album of the couple's kids :)

The first LO is the whole wedding party The Groom's daughters from a previous marriage are in black, The Bride's son is the only young boy there and her daughter is 2nd from the right and my own daughter was one of the bridesmaid and is sitting directly in front of the bride looking nowhere near the camera lol

The Photo's I had for the next two layouts were very big all 4 were at least 7 by 5 inches and needed some trimming. I was determined to use both pictures of my friend's two kids as there was one of both that was simply gorgeous and one of each that showed their personalities. There wasn't space in the album to do a DLO for each of them but I think I have managed to do them justice

The groom's two girls at the age where they wanted to wear black and wanted to look more grown up than the other bridesmaids. This was the only photo I had of them so I was so pleased it was a good one :)

and now for something completely different!

I would say that 90% of my scrapping revolves around pictures of the kids and then the remainder is divided up by family and pets. So this is the first LO that I can think of that has photos of something rather than someone! This was the weekly challenge on UKS and it was nice to do something so completely different from the norm. I will be back to my usual haunts tomorrow though as I plan on continuing the wedding album and my next LO after that will be for the March House Challenge on UKS which will have photos of the munchkins again :)

More wedding LO's

Took some time this afternoon to do some more pages in the album for my friend. I should say I sat down and planned the album so it is a little quicker than more normal more laid back spontaneous LO's. I am so lucky the big kids came home from school and played with Alex for me he came for visits and we had cuddles but he was more than happy to go play with "The guys" as he calls them :)

LO's of the kids

So continuing uploading all my LO's to share here are the LO's I have done of the kids together;

This one was a magical photo. The kids were yelling 1 2 3 cowabunga and high fiving each other. I managed to grab my camera and call them and get this completely miraculous shot :) It is a simple LO but the picture is too good to overwhelm :)

This LO was done at a scrap party using a kit and shows how my kids can sometimes be very sweet to each other :)

This was a very early LO done to a challenge to use no piece of paper or card larger than 1" square (except for the background card) I had only just begun scrapping at this point and should probably have not attempted it really as I found it tough lol

This is a more recent LO picturing each of my kids (at the time the photo's are pre-Alex) in the snow we had Feb 2007

Obsessed much?

Phil (DH) went out lst night to do some swim training - he is doing a triathalon in a couple of months - so I had chance to do a bit more scrapping. I could have gone on but I stopped after 2 LO's as I wanted to have a break and be fresh when I carried on with it. So here are 2 more pages in the wedding album;

Wedding bells call

So here I am sitting down having a coffee and enjoying that the kids are at school and is just myself and the little man when all I can think of is what I am going to do with the wedding album and how I want to get it done so it is in time for their 3rd anniversary.
I found a little time during the day to use my Cricut to cut the shapes I had planned and then on the walk home from school Alex fell asleep. Yay so 3 big kids doing homework, Alex asleep and me scrapping. Two more pages down fourteen to go and feeling a lot happier for having done some :)
The only problem with doing Vic's album is that Phil (DH) realised I had not done one for us yet and we have been married nearly 12 years! I have only been scrapping for four though so that's my excuse lol

Sunday crafting - week 3

So it was the third sunday since I decided to make a concerted effort to do more crafting yesterday. The plan was to sit with my hubby and do some stitching whilst watching footie but the scrapping bug was calling my name :) SO I took the big 3 kids in the dining room with me to give hubby some peace and they got on with their crafty projects whilst I dragged out the 8x8 album I am doing for a friend. It was supposed to be a first anniversary present (paper) but Alex came along and the album got abandoned after page 1.
Page 1 was done already but I completed three more of the pages;

My new favourite LO

I competed this as part of a weekly challenge on the UKScrappers forum. I was going for something very different with a different picture initially but I decided that the picture I was going to use orginally would not go with purple (one of the challenge requirements was to use purple) and then it all escalated from there :)

Cardstock is all Bazzil, Papers are DCWV and I also used purple vellum. I cut out the words and then with help from Alex (read he insisted on helping lol) I glitterised the treasure. I used Kreinik thread to sew the lazy daisies in the top right corner and used a mix of flowers and brads in the bottom left. I used clear gems to make a little sparkly trail from the butterfly leaving a blossom and taking to the sky. Finally I used a large brad which reads My Family and some lace trim with fabric roses under the Moments cut out.

I hope you like it I love it :)

Another Alex page

So in the first of tonight's posts is another page for the Scrapology challenge. I am not sure I will be in time but it is fun to have a go anyhow. This is done to a sketch and I love these photo's even though the second one is a little blurry I had to include it purely because of the soppy smiley grin on Alex's face :)

Alex pages and exciting news

So the little man's turn is finally here :) I am posting again a LO I did this week as it is only the second one of him poor boy but then it is his fault I have had so little time to craft the past couple of years lol. Just for info Joel is currently 11, Dylan is 8, Kari is 6 and Alex just turned 2 :)

As for the exciting news Phil (DH) has gone to the gym but on the way there he is collecting my new camera :) Yippee no poor quality iPhone pics

Joel pages

So it is the biggest boy's turn :) Sorry for the terrible picture quality on the DLO I will have to get a new camera but we need a washing machine first lol. This DLO was one of my first scrapping foray's after a wedding page and the first DLO of Kari.

This page was done at a scrapping party using a supplied kit. I added the round ribbon brads from my stash to try and make balloons and decoupaged the candle paper as the LO felt too flat.

All my kids are incredibly crafty I can't imagine why lol and Joel designed and made this page himself (with a little help) he has also done some 6 by 6 LO's which I will share at a later date :)

Dylan Pages

I only have this one double layout of Dylan by himself so I really have to get some more of him done. I do have a 6x6 of him as well that he did himself (with a titchy bit of help) so when I upload my 6x6 pages you will see more of him. I seem to do most of my pages about all of the kids together or Kari I need to get some more boy friendly papers.

Can't stop scrapping

Now I am fairly confident that by now you know I don't mean that I am fighting a lot :) I have definately got my scrapping bug back and have on my search for inspiration and ideas completed a page as a challenge on the Scrapology blog Here. I was already planning to scrap this photo and I love using decoupage on my pages so I thought this would meld with the Dimension challenge.
The papers are from Basic Grey Infuse range using the pink as the base, the stripped paper to cover the chipboard and I cut a section from the corner of the floral paper to make an explosion of flowers :) The Circular chipboard was covered and then I had to cut out a section to fit the photo into the circle so I used the cut out part to help raise the floral corner. I ended up having to use 3D sticky pads on top of the swirls that went under the decoupage as they were less raised. I used Bazzil flowers a few brads and some cream paper flowers with a beige ribbon to make the flowers at the torn sections.
Anyhow I am in love with the page even though it has a photo of me and not one of the kids lol so I hope you like it too :)

(p.s. the yellowy colour around the edges is my dining table not part of the LO maybe I should paint it so it goes better with my LO's when I photograph them lol)
